Would a girl leaver her current boyfriend if she met a more attractive guy?

I met this girl in my college math cl and I really like her. Me and her have a ton in common and can carry conversation very easily. I'm a pretty attractive guy and she is gorgeous. I was going to ask her to lunch the other day when she happened to mention something about her boyfriends dad. Needless to say this was a huge let down but I still feel like there might be something there. Any thoughts on my possible chances?
