My water heater in the basement keeps back filling my wash machine.?

Just replaced both heating elements. I drained water heater and refilled, but water keeps filling my wash machine and I ume it is coming from the hot water line. Is there a one way valve that I don't know about? electric water heater, Maytag Neptune wash machine.
