Is Ron Paul Really Electable?

Everyone keeps making noise about him everyone where i turn which is funny because my area represents the epitome of liberalism. Which brings me to my next point. Can Ron Paul win the GOP nomination considering the amalgam of liberal and conservative viewpoints(at least in the narrow American political sense) he seems to bring to the table???
